(Willie and Stevie Botto's grandma)
For many years my husband and I wanted a
baby. After a few miscarriages, we were more than ready for adoption.
It took some time, but finally we were chosen to be the parents
of a beautiful four day old baby girl. When she was placed in my
arms, she was our baby, and we vowed that nothing would ever separate
us. We were a family. She gave us so much happiness.
When Patt and Dave married, I just assumed
that it would not be long before I would be a grandmother. In my
dreams! I settled for two granddogs and, cute as they were, they
were no competition to the pictures my friends would flash of their
darling little grandchildren. After Patt and Dave were married about
eleven years, I received this wonderful call, "Mom, our baby was
born and we're on our way to bring him home. Can you come?".
I live in California, but I arrived in Baltimore
when Will was just eight days old. Patt and Will met me, and I bonded
with that adorable infant. That little fellow filled a place right
under my heart, and I also longed to get my hands on him. But Patt
was wearing him most of the time and Dave and I waited to snatch
him away for just a bit. That little boy brought so much happiness
into my life. Well, about twenty months later along came Stevie,
and my joy was double. Again, I came out right after he was brought
home. It was lovely to have another adorable baby to cuddle. Patt
shared more with the second baby!
I'm blessed to have two wonderful and interesting
little boys to love, and I am doubly blessed, because I think they
love me too.
Oh, do I flash pictures of my grandsons?
You bet I do. It's my turn now!
